fall 2008

exhibited at Fuori Salone, Milan, Italy_April 2008

a lighting project done in collaboration with Italian firm industreal based around combining new led technologies with blown glass.

Flex is a series of six pendants that are arrayed in a circular form. The wires of the pendants are strung through an aluminum collar that when slid up and down makes the glass pendants turn outward in a sort of blooming fashion. Thus the fixture can exist in multiple states.

The glass components were conceived to also accentuate different states of the fixture. When the light is turned off, the pendants appear to have a solid white exterior and deeply colored interiors. When the light is on, the colors overtake the white exteriors and create interesting and nonspecific hues.
